The North Carolina Cooperative Extension Program has updated a publication previously cited by RCC that warns gardeners, commercial growers and others of the hazards of highly persistent herbicides in hay, manure, compost, and grass clippings. Rachel Carson Council has been following this issue for several years through our "Gardener's Alert" and "Killer Compost" articles.

The NC Extension program Publication "Herbicide Carryover in Hay, Manure, Compost, and Grass Clippings: Caution to Hay Producers, Livestock Owners, Farmers and Home Gardeners." Can be found here: http://www.ces.ncsu.edu/fletcher/programs/ncorganic/special-pubs/herbicide_carryover.pdf

The previous RCC publications can be found here: A Gardener Alert to Killer Compost and A Gardener Alert --UPDATE
